Ardchattan Parish Church

Soup Lunch after Worship

Added on 25 January 2015

On Sunday 25th January we said farewell to a very popular and well respected friend as Rodney Wills left us to move to Edinburgh. Rodney had been a member of our Parish since 1991 and was an Elder and Reader for many years both in Ardchattan and surrounding parishes. His wife Susan was also a very active member, helping to design and make hangings and arranging the flowers in St. Modan’s. Sadly she has had to go into a home in Edinburgh. Rodney is moving to be near her and their two daughters.

After the Communion Service at Ardchattan Kirk, a soup lunch was provided in the North Connel Hall with five different types of soup, tasty sandwiches and excellent baking. About forty people attended. Rodney was presented with a card, hand-made by the Sunday School children and signed by Church members, as well as an album of photos to remind them of their time in Ardchattan.

No speeches were made; true to his unassuming nature Rodney preferred to slip away quietly but we are sure he will keep in touch with many friends in the area and we hope to hear news of him from time to time. All in our Parish wish him well in his new adventure in Edinburgh and give thanks for the time he spent with us.

Donations collected at the meal will be used to help our Bible class who are fund raising for their May trip to the Abernethy Trust Centre in Ardgour.
