Ardchattan Parish News
29 September 2021Harvest Festival
Our Harvest Festival took place over 3 days this year. On the Friday and Saturday we established a collection point in Benderloch for donations of longlife foods and fresh veg and fruit to be given to the Oban Hope Kitchen for their clients. This was well supported by folk in the Ardchattan Community.
The church looked well on Harvest Sunday, decorated with flowers, home grown produce (including honey and grapes), corn and pine cones.
During the service a third new Elder, Janette, was ordained and welcomed by the minister, elders and congregation.
27 September 2021New Elders Ordained
During September we were delighted to welcome 3 new Elders to our Kirk Session. Heather, Morag and Janette were ordained by Rev. Willem and received a blessing from all using British Sign Language.
18 September 2021Harvest Collection for 'Hope Kitchen' at Ledaig Leisure 24th-25th September
Following last year's successful event, we are planning another collection of food donations in the lead up to our Harvest Festival, for distribution by Oban's Hope Kitchen. We shall be having a supervised collection point under the canopy on the Ledaig Leisure forecount, courtesy of Lewis Morrison, on Friday 24th September between 10am - 2pm and on Saturday 25th between 2pm - 4pm.
Some of the suggested useful items include tinned foods - savoury and sweet (but not soups, baked beans or tomatoes), UHT/oat/almond milk and biscuits as well fresh veg and fruit. Not wanted are any chilled foods or alcoholic drink.
11 September 2021 19th September - Communion Service with a difference
During lockdown we had one or two 'special Communion services' in our own homes via our recorded YouTube services. Now, on 19th September, we shall be able to hold Communion together again in St. Modan's again, although, following Covid restrictions, it will be a bit different.
We are asked to bring our own glass, wine (or alternative) and piece of bread to the service, maybe a paper serviette or hankie to put them on, on the wee shelf infront of our seats.
It will still be a very special service.
11 August 2021SUNDAY SERVICES UPDATE
The removal of the 1m distancing rule means that we do not have to 'book a place' in church anymore.
Track and Trace is still required, so please make sure that we have your details when you arrive. Face masks are still to be worn.
We can still provide some socially distanced places if this makes you feel more comfortable, in this case please book through our 'Feedback' page online or using the contacts in the Printout as before.
